AMAZING EVENT!!!
The first Open Orienteering event in Miami was successful.
The last event in the area was 10 years ago. We had to re-draw the map and find new people to participate in the event. We received 40 pre-registered participants and hosted in all around 100 persons the day of the event. UHAAAAUUUU!!!!!!!

We never imagined this turnout. We had perfect weather… 76 F, and the people were very exited and happy to be a part of this historic event. They all asked “when is the next event?” When we told them that the next event will be October 25, they pleaded with us to do one earlier.
We had competitors of many different nationalities: Argentina, Colombia, Israel, Mexico, Moldova, Morocco, Russia, U.S.A., Sweden and … one from Orlando…THANK YOU FOR COMING!!!
Registration went smoothly. The courses were wonderful; thanks to Bob Putnam, the “course setter” and Jonathan Linforth, who printed the maps for us.
We held a lottery for the door prizes: O-Books and Compasses from our sponsor 866gaiters.com, and afterward all the winners received their FLO medals at the awards ceremony.
I want to thank all the volunteers who made this event possible: Rotem Levy, who helped with Technical support and made all the necessary materials for this competition, Will Murphy, who helped us a lot before and during the event, Master Chief who signed up a lot of pre-registrants, Romina Anbinder and Vivian Safdeye at Registration, Devora Benchimoll and Ruth Cohen at Start and Carina Lancewicki at Finish and for compiling the Results.
